Program and Position Overview

William Campbell Foundation (WCF) is a not for profit Christian organisation that provides a range of services, including permanency support programs for children and young people. Additionally, WCF delivers therapeutic services to children, young people, individuals and families.

 

WCF is committed to child safe practices and permanency outcomes for children and young people in care to provide a positive, safe and healing experience that addresses trauma, attachment, self-regulation, culture and community needs.

The position of Disability Support Worker is designed to provide quality disability services as part of WC F's wrap around services, designed to empower people through the delivery of client focused support services. 

Key Position Responsibilities 

  • Providing individual support to people with disability and/or psycho-social needs enabling them to undertake all aspects of daily living, through the development of trusting and meaningful relationships.

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of disabilities and development, including knowledge of the context and impact of issues.

  • Knowledge of and adherence to the NDIS code of conduct, possessing an understanding of NDIS principles such as choice, participation, independence, respect and privacy.

  • Providing quality services to individuals in an informed, safe, appropriate and culturally sensitive manner at all times.

  • Experience in supporting those with high and/or complex needs and challenging behaviours.

  • Influence and encourage independence to support community integration for the individuals we support.

  • Build and maintain appropriate and professional relationships with individuals, their families and other stakeholders.

  • Provide support to families and carers during times of increased instability, with focus on meeting the needs of all persons.

  • Recommend risk management and crisis intervention plans to increase capacity to safely work with individuals and families.

  • Support and assist in the delivery of collaborative services, with respect to the culture and context of each individuals' circumstances, inclusive of family and community.

  • High level effective and respectful communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with a variety of backgrounds, abilities and understanding.

Selection Criteria

Examples should be provided where available. 

  1. Minimum of Certificate Ill in Individual Support (Disability) and 2 years employment in a relevant community services field.

  2. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of disabilities and development, including knowledge of the context and impact of issues.

  3. Knowledge of the NDIS principles and code of conduct.

  4. Demonstrated understanding of the importance of identifying and improving outcomes for individuals, including those with complex needs or challenging behaviours.

  5. Demonstrated ability to influence and encourage independence, supporting community integration and participation for individuals.

  6. Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently, as well as working cohesively as part of a wider team.

  7. Demonstrated adaptable and high-level communication skills, including both verbal and written communication (must detail capacity to provide comprehensive reports).

  8. Demonstrated ability to meet set targets, deadlines and Key Performance Indicators (KPl's).

  9. Demonstrated experience and ability to work in situations of conflict and crisis.

  11. Confirmation that you:
    a.    Hold a current and cleared Working with Children Check
    b.    Can provide a National Police Check ( obtained within the past 12 months)
    c.    Can provide a Current Drivers Licence
    d.    Have access to two referees from current or previous Managers
    e.    Will provide copies of Transcripts and Certificates detailing qualifications
    f.    Will disclose during interview any information that could impair performance in this position, which should be considered by the panel when assessing applicants
