Program and Position Overview

 

William Campbell Foundation (WCF) is a not for profit Christian organisation that provides a range of services, including permanency support programs for children and young people. Additionally, WCF delivers therapeutic services to children, young people, individuals and families.

 

WCF is committed to child safe practices and permanency outcomes for children and young people in care to provide a positive, safe and healing experience that addresses trauma, attachment, self-regulation, culture and community needs.

The aim of this program is to achieve change, safety and protection for Young People through improving cultural, social, emotional, health and educational outcomes and preparing them for independent living.

Key Position Responsibilities 

  • Ability to work with youth using a strength-based approach and understanding the importance of clear professional boundaries and strong ethics, while providing quality responsive service to young people.

  • Assess and case manage the complex individual needs of young people and their families using a culturally responsible, therapeutic and trauma informed approach.

  • Working with a diverse range of young people, including their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.

  • Work collaboratively with Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), as well as other stakeholders, in identifying, supporting and achieving outcomes for young people.  

  • Ongoing work with young people and house parents to identify areas of safety risk or concern, using a strengths-based approach in line with best practice and legislative frameworks.

  • Ensure Leaving Care Plans are comprehensive, informative and submitted on time, within DCJ’s timeframes, and implementing the parameters of the young people’s Leaving Care Plan consistently, efficiently and effectively. 

  • Active participation in mentoring and activities to support the competency building of the young people residing in Supported Independent Living. 

  • Provide services and supports within the permanent placement principles defined in the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.
