We need to learn how to cook, and how to use a washing machine, because that's what adults do. - Jillian, WCF Young Person
Are you able to teach teenagers life skills?
Our Supported Independent Living Program is looking for a couple who can support and care for up to four young people aged 15 - 17 years. This program focuses on teaching practical life skills they will need to be successful. These skills include cooking, home duties, financial assistance and budgeting, career development and building health and positive relationships; all important and necessary life skills.
These young people will be referred to us through the Department of Communities and Justice (previously known as Family and Community Services), and with support from you and the program, they will transition into semi-independent living or leaving care. Each placement will be for a period of 3 - 12 months, based on the young person's needs.
Our Supported Independent Living Program is the World's most rewarding job!
