In light of the recent changes to social media access for young people, the team took a closer look at the reasons behind the ban, as well as some potential implications and impacts of the ban. Some of the research we looked at included surveys of young people, links to wellbeing and mental health, as well as considerations for young LGBTQI+ people and autistic young people.

Practice Tip: Resources regarding the Social Media Changes

The Kids Helpline has a handy website available that's aimed at teens to help them understand the change, including information on what's really happening inside your brain when using social media, as well as resources to help young people cope.

The eSafety Commissioner website has created a hub for everything relating to the social media changes. On the hub, you'll find information for young people, families, and workers, as well as information from platforms, free webinars, and official news updates.
